Postcrossing

Postcard from Zoya (spoju) from Russia. This is a reproduction of  “The Toilette of Esther” by Dutch painter Aert de Gelder.

De Gelder was born and died in Dordrecht. He was one of Rembrandt’s last pupils while in Amsterdam, studying in his studio from 1661 to 1663. He was not only one of the most talented of Rembrandt’s pupils, but also one of his most devoted followers, for he was the only Dutch artist to paint in the tradition of Rembrandt’s late style into the 18th century.

Postcrossing

Received a beautiful postcard today in the mail from Rimini, Italy.

This postcard is by artist Alphonse Mucha in 1896. I love these types of posters from France in this era. They are always so elaborate and beautiful.

*Side note- Also received a postcard from Turkey…but there wasn’t anything written on it. BOO!
